I absolutely love food. I'm a true Taurus when it comes to my love of good eatin'! Whenever I'm traveling I always make it a goal to check out the local food the city is famous for.
I went on a trip to D.C. recently and checking out local staple "Bens Chili Bowl" was number one on my list. Bens Chili Bowl first opened in 1958 by newlyweds Ben and Virginia Ali. At the time of its opening D.C. was still segregated and was opened on U Street also known as the "Black Broadway". Segregation didn't stop the restaurant from opening its doors to everyone. Boasting of 60 years of amazing chili I had to check it out!
Of course, I had to be traditional and go with the famous "Ben's Chili". We also ordered Chili Cheese Fries, Chili Dog with Fries, Chocolate Shake and another classic favorite the "Half Smoke" We ate without even speaking, that's how good the food was! It was amazing! Before heading out I took a quick pic with the founding lady Mrs. Virginia Ali, with Ben himself in the background. If you're planning or visiting D.C. Bens should definitely be on your list of places to check out! If you arent planning to visit the do ship all over the coutry. Check them out at https://www.benschilibowl.com
